While summer might be coming to a close and chillier weather is on the horizon, now is a great time to get out there and enjoy the remaining warm weather while staying active at the same time! There are a variety of activities right in our neighborhood that you can enjoy outdoors. Whether you are alone or with friends and family, read on for some fitness-enthused activities to help you wrap up summer 2019!

Water Sports

Water activities and summer go hand in hand. With the summer season dwindling now is the time to get out there and appreciate these final summer days. There are a variety of water activities that are sure to entertain but give you a satisfying workout as well. Some popular water activities that are available right on the Charles River:

  • Canoeing
  • Paddle boarding
  • Kayaking


Who doesn’t like to be surrounded by the beauty of nature? In Massachusetts alone, there are hundreds of hiking trails to choose from. Whether you take a quick trip to the Blue Hills in Boston, take a short drive north to Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, or travel south to the Cape Cod rail trail, we are never far from experiencing the true natural beauty of our state. And an active day spent in nature is a fitness win!

Organized Sports

Sports leagues are a great way to stay active, have fun and meet friends without the element of over the top competition! No matter your skillset of physical prowess, organized sports are a great way to get together with individuals in your community and get active. Sports leagues can be found via social platforms, community pages, or by word of mouth.
