Boston Athletic Club’s response to COVID-19

We hope that you and your loved ones are healthy and taking the steps necessary to remain so. These are challenging times and our daily lives seem to be changing moment to moment.

We want to update you regarding how charges will be managed while Boston Athletic Club is temporarily closed:

• Your membership has been placed on an immediate freeze at no cost.
• No further action is required to freeze your account and any existing freezes will be honored as requested.
• We will extend the expiration date of any unused personal training and babysitting packages.
• Your April membership dues will not be billed.
• Pre-paid programs will resume once we’re able to resume operation and sessions will be fulfilled on a new schedule.
• Outstanding balances which include charges made prior to March 15 will be billed on April 1, 2020.

We need to remain honest about the situation and how it has impacted BAC and our valued employees. As a local, small business, this worldwide pandemic has caused a significant loss of revenue without an equivalent reduction in our expenses like rent, utilities, obligations to vendors, and especially payroll, unemployment taxes and insurance costs for employees.

While memberships and dues are frozen, make no mistake, we are hard at work with our essential staff preparing to welcome our community back to BAC. Free virtual workout content is available through two vendors: Fitness on Demand and Mossa. Find these links on our website or send us an e-mail and we will get you started. Our staff is available daily through our social media channels leading virtual boot camps, trainer-led workouts, meditation and yoga. We are cleaning, painting and maintaining our facilities. We have just finished preventative maintenance on all fitness equipment.

We have provided uninterrupted programs and services in South Boston for 47 years and this unprecedented temporary closure will not stop us. We look forward to welcoming you back to the club. We don’t know how long this will last and we are committed to delivering value when a clear date to resume operations is available.

We are faced with entirely unprecedented circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. BAC Management and Ownership have collectively decided that closing is the only prudent course of action to protect the health of our members, employees and the public at large. We do not know how long this closure will last. We will keep you updated through e-mail, social media channels and our website.

We understand you will have many questions regarding programs and services.  Please know that the health and safety of our members and employees is the highest priority. We will respond to all questions as quickly as we can, however, the situation is fluid and we will be coordinating our plans with those of the city, state, and national health offices.

In the interim, we will provide you with virtual fitness content to continue your commitment to stay healthy.
