With the holiday season approaching it can be far too easy to neglect the gym as time crunches at work may cause stress and trying to find gym time with the influx of holiday parties can be detrimental to your fitness schedule and regiment! While there are many things to be thankful for this time of the
season, lets dive into some health tips that your body will be thankful for during these holiday months!
1. It’s Not Only About Holidays
With a variety of food enthused holidays this season, it is important to watch out for every other day in
between, while there may be a bountiful amount of sweets at a gathering, it will become harder and
harder to avoid sweets! You may encounter holiday treats at random at work or at home from a kind
neighbor bringing you a home-baked gift. It is important to remember that while these events are only
for a day, its leftovers, sweets & other holiday treats that can put a damper on finishing the year strong!
2. Forget Your Workout Routine; Just Challenge Yourself
You may not have time for a full routine, so there is no reason to beat yourself up about it! Any activity
is good activity. Even if your workout is only 10 minutes a day, that is still okay Your body will always
respond to the challenge of exercise, not the amount of time spent doing it.
3. Focus On What You Can Do, Not What You Can’t
With a new year on the horizon, we can expect a lot of fitness inspired resolutions, but that doesn’t
mean you should give up entirely! Instead of dwelling on what cannot be done, focus on what you can
do! Try to find solutions to make health a top priority for this next month!
4. Pick Your Top 5 Favorite Workouts
Since the holidays are a bit chaotic, if you can’t find the time to get to the gym on regularly scheduled
days, pick a few activities that you can do on the go or around the house! This is helpful for when you
need a blast of movement but don’t have the time to get a full workout in.
5) Cut Down on That Sugar Intake!
Sugar and the holidays seem to be synonymous with one another, especially in The United States where
sugar in one form or another can be found in practically everything! This year focus on ways to avoid
those candied yams, your aunt’s famous sweet potato casserole or anything that may disrupt your
health & fitness goals for the end of the year. While you can still enjoy these meals, if sugar is a big
concern work on discovering new side dishes that are both delicious and nutritious!
