Class Descriptions

BARRE CORE FUSION This barre class is a full-body workout designed to give you chiseled abs, toned legs, cut arms, and a high, lifted butt. This ballet inspired, core-centric class focuses on isolated core fitness exercises, alignment, flexibility and posture as you work through targeted mindful muscle movements.

BARRE CORE STRENGTH Traditional Barre Workout moves with strength and core combinations that will have you digging deeper and pushing further. You will strengthen, tone, and feel the burn!

BARRE WORKOUT During this class your muscles are taken through small movement patterns, and worked to exhaustion. After the move is finished it is followed by a stretch, which will release your muscle from fatigue.  This class is sure to challenge you and make you feel stronger and tighter!

CIRCUIT TRAINING Imagine the rigors of boot camp. Add music. Then throw in the latest cross-training exercises, weights, bars, and other props, and you’ve got the ultimate workout for the cross-trainer – that will challenge your agility, speed, strength, and endurance.

CORE FIT A strong core will help you move better, improve your balance and stability, reduce your risk of injury, increase your power output, and improve your athletic performance! By focusing on your abdominal muscles, hips, glutes and back, this focused 30-minute class is a must for any cyclist, runner, or fitness enthusiast needing to strengthen the stabilizer muscles.

FOREVER FIT These classes are geared toward our 60+ members. Our land classes include Forever FIT– a total body workout including some step aerobics, Forever STRONG – focusing on a combination of cardio, strength training, core work and flexibility, and Forever BARRE – a modified version of our Barre Workout Class. Forever Fit AQUA, is a cardiovascular workout in the pool incorporating plyometrics and the water as resistance.  Muscular strength, endurance, and abdominal work are also included.

Group Fight is a gripping hour that burns a ton of calories and builds total body strength. Tap into the hottest mixed martial arts movements done at a rapid-fire pace to smash your cardio fitness! From the boxing ring to the fighting cage, Group Fight combines cutting-edge moves with thrilling music. This electric experience is addictive! FIGHT FOR IT!

HIP HOP CARDIO Hip hop your way through an hour of high-energy dance set to pop and hip hop tunes. A short warm up will be followed by easy to follow routines to your favorite songs!  Come prepared to dance! Check out YouTube.com/bostonathleticclub for videos of our dances!

HIITLISS We’ve combined the calorie-blasting and metabolism-boosting benefits of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) with the stress busting, fat burning, cardiovascular conditioning benefits of Low Intensity Steady State (LISS) exercise into one, comprehensive workout! This class leaves lots of room for progression and a desire to push harder!!

INTERVAL SCULPT / INTERVAL SR This high-energy strength training class is a great way to build muscle and burn fat. The interval segments will have you alternating between cardiovascular and strength work – allowing you to work hard, make progress and see results! The Monday class includes SR (Stretch & Recover): Reduce muscle soreness and increase range of motion and joint mobility all while relaxing the mind and reducing pain and the effects of stress. If you often feel ‘tight’ or find it challenging to stretch on a regular basis, you will look forward to the last 10-15 of this class!

PILATES Practiced faithfully, Pilates will increase lung capacity and circulation through deep, healthy breathing. Strength and flexibility (particularly of the abdomen and back muscles) and coordination (both muscular and mental) are key components to the Pilates program.

RISE & SHINE YOGA Start your day with a Vinyasa Flow to stretch and awaken your muscles.  Expect to experience a range of postures with a focus on linking breath to movement.  Beginning slowly to wake up the body, this class will leave you feeling ready to conquer the day!

SCHWINN CYCLE A group experience on specifically designed stationary bikes. Our instructors will guide you through an intense ride, describing hills and simulating the terrain. You have the freedom to make your workout as challenging as you want.

SUPER CIRCUIT Who says lifting weights doesn’t burn fat? By combining circuit training with supersetting (pairing two exercises back to back) you will increase the amount of work you perform in a specific time period, and since you’re moving quickly from one exercise to another it will lead to a more intense workout with a higher expenditure of calories. This full body workout includes cardio, lower & upper body strength training, and core work – a sure-fire way to boost your metabolic rate and burn fat faster without spending more time in the gym.

TABATA CARDIO An intense cardiovascular conditioning class that uses Tabata Interval Training (20 seconds of maximum intensity exercise, followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated without pause 8 times for a total of 4 minutes).  Modifications can be made for all fitness levels.

TOTAL BODY WORKOUT As the name says, a total body workout incorporating multi-level cardio and strength exercises as a great way to break through a weight-loss plateau and burn a ton of calories!

VINYASA FLOW This yoga class will move fluidly through a challenging Vinyasa practice, where a series of postures are connected through the breath. The class will conclude with a slower, more meditative series of stretches, to relieve stress and restore balance to your mind, body, and spirit.

WATER WORKOUT A cardiovascular workout in the pool incorporating plyometrics and the water as resistance.  Muscular strength, endurance, and abdominal work are also included.  Also part of the Forever Fit program.

YIN YOGA Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with postures, or asanas, that are held in a meditative state for longer periods of time, usually 3 to 5 minutes.  In the practice of Yin we access the deeper tissues, such as connective tissues and fascia and many of the postures focus on areas that encompass a joint (hips, sacrum, spine).  All levels welcome.

ZUMBA GOLD The easy-to-follow program that lets you move to the beat at your own speed. It’s an invigorating, community-oriented dance-fitness class that feels fresh, and most of all, exhilarating! Zumba Gold® classes provide modified, low-impact moves for active older adults.
