Class Descriptions
ALL LEVELS YOGA This class will incorporate asana and breath work in each session, and is appropriate for brand new students as well as seasoned practitioners. Modifications will be given to up or down level a pose, and the class will end with a gentle relaxation. Additionally, a mix of vinyasa, yogalates, yin, restorative, and power yoga may be taught in class.
ARMS & ABS This 45-minute class will take you through an upper-body workout using stability balls, dumbbells, body bars and your own body weight. You will love the feeling of a stronger core, and lean, firmer arms.
ASHTANGA YOGA This dynamic workout will take you deeper into the basic poses and adds more advanced poses for the more advanced yoga
participant.
BEGINNER YOGA This Yoga class provides a slower paced program with more description and commentary accompanying each asana or posture. Breath awareness is also introduced as well as relaxation at the end of class.
BODY SCULPT This class starts with a warm-up, and then covers the entire body, working all muscle groups with resistance training using weights, body bars, and stability balls. Remember that a well-toned body burns more calories at rest!
CARDIO STRENGTH This high-energy class will focus on high-intensity cardiovascular exercise followed by short periods of rest, which is highly effective at burning fat and boosting your metabolism. A strong emphasis on core strength will be included…and remember, just because it’s called cardio, doesn’t mean there aren’t weights involved!
CIRCUIT TRAINING Imagine the rigors of boot camp. Add music. Then throw in the latest cross-training exercises, weights, bars, and other props, and you’ve got the ultimate workout for the cross-trainer – that will challenge your agility, speed, strength, and endurance.
CORE FIT Set to uplifting music, this is a fusion class designed to increase your endurance, core strength, spinal stability, balance, and flexibility as well as help you to reduce stress. You will stand straighter, feel stronger, and become more flexible and physically aware.
FOREVER FIT Classes These classes are geared toward our 50+ members. Our land classes include Forever FIT- a total body workout including some step aerobics, Forever STRONG – focusing on a combination of cardio, strength training, core work and flexibility, and Forever TONE & STRETCH – a combination of yoga and pilates-based toning and sculpting moves using the magic circle and foam roller to help increase your strength and flexibility. Our water class, Forever Fit AQUA, is a cardiovascular workout in the pool incorporating plyometrics and the water as resistance. Muscular strength, endurance, and abdominal work are also included.
Group KICK® This eclectic 60-minute fusion class of martial arts and boxing movements will kick your cardio fitness to the next level while defining and shaping your body and self-confidence!
Group POWER® Your hour of POWER! This 60-minute barbell program strengthens all your major muscle groups in an inspiring, motivational group environment.
HardCORE Hit your middle with a blast of core conditioning exercises to enhance abdominal definition and stability. This class is a must for any cyclist, runner, or fitness enthusiast needing to strengthen the stabilizer muscles.
HIP HOP CARDIO Hip hop your way through an hour of high-energy dance set to pop and hip hop tunes. A short warm up will be followed by easy to follow routines to your favorite songs! Come prepared to dance!
PILATES Practiced faithfully, Pilates will increase lung capacity and circulation through deep, healthy breathing. Strength and flexibility (particularly of the abdomen and back muscles) and coordination (both muscular and mental) are key components to the Pilates program.
PLYO POWER® An athletic based cardiovascular legs program that focuses on the precision of sports conditioning exercises. Its unique leveling system is what sets Plyo Power® apart from all other programs and allows a person of any fitness level to find the athlete inside them!
SCHWINN CYCLE A group experience on specifically designed stationary bikes. Our instructors will guide you through an intense ride, describing hills and simulating the terrain. You have the freedom to make your workout as challenging as you want.
SCHWINN EXPRESS A 45-minute version of our SCHWINN CYCLE class
SCHWINN EXP +abs A 45-minute SCHWINN CYCLE class followed by 15 minutes of abs!
TOTAL BODY WORKOUT As the name says, a total body workout incorporating multi-level cardio and strength exercises as a great way to break through a weight-loss plateau and burn a ton of calories! *Some TBW classes have their own theme:
Monday 6am: Muscle Confusion – to keep you on your toes and guessing what’s next. Mixing things up and adding bursts of cardio will have you lean and toned in no time. No body part will be neglected.
Wednesday 6:15am: Metabolic Training – completing structural and compound exercises with little rest in between exercises in an effort to maximize calorie burn and increase metabolic rate during and after your workout.
VINYASA YOGA The word Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement”. Your teacher will instruct you to move from one pose to the next while using your breath. Come prepared to tone and stretch your muscles and sweat during this dynamic, hour-long flow class. All levels are welcome!
WATER WORKOUT A cardiovascular workout in the pool incorporating plyometrics and the water as resistance. Muscular strength, endurance, and abdominal work are also included. Also part of the Forever Fit program.
